174 As skill sets become highly individualized among those recogniz- ing their value, so also will the negotiations around remuneration for the human capital that a worker can bring to the workplace. This forces the employer to become increasingly sophisticated in their approach to remuneration. Measuring the reciprocity between the employer and the transformational worker will become increasingly difficult, as remu- neration packages begin to include a range of intangible freedoms or non-traditional options. Текст 4. Transformational Culture Ronald Ingelhart's work on social values over the last three dec- ades has mapped an important shift in what individuals value in con- temporary societies, described as the "Postmodern Shift". Inglehart has chronicled the diminished salience of traditional values motivated by economic survival and security. These concerns with job security and maximizing economic gain are being gradually replaced by concerns over quality of life and quality of the work experience. In terms of work, Inglehart has found a pronounced shift in most Western countries. There is a growing emphasis on the importance of self-expression and meaningfulness in work for a growing number of segments in Western society. There is less emphasis on the importance of authority, and in particular, greater support for more inclusive deci- sion-making in the workplace. The implications of this general shift in values are great when understood in the context of changes in the labour market. The trans- formational worker is going to be increasingly interested in options or opportunities that make a positive contribution their quality of life. Employers who are unwilling or unable to negotiate terms that ensure that work is both satisfying and remunerative risk losing the valuable assets that transformational workers represent.
