Extension and retraction of the nose gear is controlled by the selector valve , and occurs simultaneously with the operation of the main gear. An actuator is pressurized to raise and to lower the nose gear. The actuator acts directly on the nose gear trunnion . A small actuator operates to lock and to unlock the nose gear. A bypass valve linked to the nose gear lock mechanism prevents hydraulic pressure from reaching the nose gear actuator before the gear unlocks.
